Trunknode Code of Conduct

Purpose
The primary goal of Trunknode's Code of Conduct is to foster inclusive, collaborative, and safe working conditions for all trunknode.com staff. Trunknode is committed to providing a friendly, safe, and welcoming environment for all staff, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or religion (or lack thereof).
This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for all Trunknode staff, as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all Trunknode Inc staff, including full-time, part-time, and contractor staff employed at every seniority level. It must be upheld during:
- Business hours at Trunknode offices
- Trunknode-related extracurricular activities and events
- Conferences and professional events attended on behalf of Trunknode
- Remote work and communications using Trunknode resources
The Code also applies to unacceptable behavior occurring outside the scope of business activities when such behavior could adversely affect the safety and well-being of Trunknode staff and clients.
Culture and Citizenship
A supplemental goal of this Code is to promote open citizenship by encouraging staff to recognize the impact of their actions on Trunknode's culture.
- Be welcoming: Support people of all backgrounds and identities.
- Be considerate: Understand that your work affects others and vice versa.
- Be respectful: Handle disagreements professionally and refrain from personal attacks.
Acceptable and Expected Behavior
All Trunknode staff are expected to:
- Participate authentically and actively.
- Exercise consideration and respect in speech and actions.
- Seek collaboration before conflict.
- Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing speech or behavior.
- Be mindful of surroundings and colleagues.
- Alert leadership if you witness dangerous situations or Code violations.
- Respect members of the public and Trunknode customers at shared events.
Unacceptable Behavior
Examples of unacceptable behavior include but are not limited to:
- Violence, threats, or violent language.
- Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or discriminatory language or jokes.
- Sexually explicit or violent material.
- Doxing (sharing personal identifying information).
- Personal insults related to identity or beliefs.
- Inappropriate photography or recording.
- Unwanted physical contact or sexual attention.
- Stalking or intimidation (online or offline).
- Encouraging or advocating for the above behaviors.
- Repeated harassment, even after being asked to stop.
- Any conduct deemed inappropriate in a professional setting.
Weapons Policy
Weapons are not allowed at Trunknode events, office locations, or other applicable settings. Prohibited weapons include:
- Firearms
- Explosives (including fireworks)
- Large knives
- Any item used to cause injury or harm
Violators will be asked to leave immediately and may face termination or law enforcement involvement. All staff must comply with local and state laws.
Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior
- All staff, including those with decision-making authority, must comply with this Code.
- Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior must do so immediately.
- Leadership may take action, including suspension or termination, for violations.
Reporting Violations
If you witness or are subject to unacceptable behavior, report it to a Trunknode leader immediately.
Retaliation against complainants or witnesses is strictly prohibited and may result in termination.
Disciplinary Action
Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary consequences based on severity. Trunknode leadership will evaluate each case and take appropriate action.
